All about Jovie Goat Mama Formula
Low in fat
The low level of fat in Jovie Mama is just formed by the goat milk ingredients used. The full cream goat milk powder is full of healthy fatty acids!
Jovie Mama is formulated with whole goat milk, locking in as many natural goat milk benefits as possible and keeping out less desired ingredients such as palm oil.
Fats are important nutrients as they are full of energy and support a healthy development of your baby. Fats also carry vitamin A, D, E and K. An additional benefit of goat milk fat is the high degree of short and medium chain triglycerides (MCTs). These increase the overall digestibility and the absorbability of the fat. Moreover, goat milk fat contains valuable lipids such as phospholipids and sphingolipids, also found in brain tissue.
Quatrefolic - A Better Folate
One of the most important vitamins you require early in your pregnancy is folic acid. Quatrefolic, also known as methylfolate or 5-MTHF for short, is a superior new type of folate ingredient that is easily incorporated into cellular functioning in the body, much better than folic acid is.
Jovie is proud to offer 5-MTHF as the better folate choice in our products.
The 5-MTHF used In Jovie Goat Is Quatrefolic™, a Registered Trademark of Gnosis S.p.A., U.S. Patent No. 7,947,662.
One of the most important vitamins you require early in your pregnancy is folic acid. Folic acid is known to lower the risk of developing neural tube defects (NTDs). Your biggest need for this vitamin is before you find out that you’re pregnant because the neural tube closes in early embryonic development (at 6 weeks), often before a woman knows she is pregnant. It also helps tissues grow and cells function. It works with vitamin B12 and vitamin C to help the body break down, use, and create new proteins. Folate is also needed to form red blood cells. It helps produce DNA, the building block of the human body, which carries genetic information.
Quatrefolic, also known as methylfolate or 5-MTHF for short, is a superior new type of folate ingredient that is easily incorporated into cellular functioning in the body, much better than folic acid is. The reason? Methylfolate is already in its biologically active form. Folic acid, on the other hand, is not biologically active and needs to first be converted into the metabolically active form through a multi-steps process where the enzyme called methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) has a key role.
Many individuals, due to their unique genetic pattern of gene expression, do not produce adequate or effective MTHFR enzymes, which means that less folate is available in its active form. With Quatrefolic, folate completely bypasses the damaged MTHFR conversion step and delivers a finished folate the body can immediately use.
Unfortunately, regulation is not always up to date and hence this relatively new ingredient has not been approved in all products, or all countries. Where it is not possible to use 5-MTHF in a Mama formula, folic acid is used.
Carbohydrates in Jovie Mama
Although lactose is the naturally occurring carbohydrate in all milk, many adults have lost the ability to digest it properly. Jovie Mama contains the lactose naturally occurring in goat milk, which is supplemented with glucose syrup.
Highly Absorbable Minerals
Minerals, such as iron and zinc, are added in chelated form to offer better bioavailability. Iron and zinc are both notoriously difficult minerals to absorb and are often found to be deficient in many individuals, especially in women of childbearing age.
Chelated minerals offer better bioavailability, meaning they are easily absorbed and assimilated into the cells and tissues of the body – especially compared with minerals that are in their inorganic forms and therefore not chelated. Iron and zinc are both notoriously difficult minerals to absorb and are often found to be deficient in many individuals, especially in women of childbearing age.
Jovie Mama formulates with iron bisglycinate and zinc bisglycinate, which are both in their chelated forms for maximum bioavailability for your developing baby.
DHA and choline
Jovie Mama did not forget about brain development! The added Choline serves as an important nutrient for cognitive function in the developing fetus. The DHA omega-3 fatty acids reach your baby via breastfeeding, and have been linked with healthy brain and eye development.
DHA is an important component of cell membranes, including cells of the developing brain and eyes. Breastfed babies get DHA through their mother’s milk if she includes DHA-rich foods in her diet
Also choline has received some significant attention lately in the medical literature for its importance in prenatal health. It has been shown to be a very important nutrient for cognitive function in a developing fetus.
Jovie Mama also proudly incorporates the benefits of DHA and Choline.
Dietary Fiber – FOS & GOS
FOS and GOS are dietary fibres which promote the growth of the beneficial bacteria, like bifidobacteria, in the large intestine. This is linked to improved bowel function and stool consistency.
Bowel function and stool consistency can be troublesome during pregnancy. FOS and GOS are important prebiotic fibres which promote the growth of the beneficial bacteria, like bifidobacteria, in the large intestine. This is linked to improved bowel function and stool consistency, and may positively influence the development of the immune system. Good reasons for Jovie to include dietary fibres in Mama formula!
